Particulates are microscopic solids particles which may be inhaled and result in irritation of the nose, throat or lungs. Two sizes of particulate are recognized; "Coarse particulates" which measure between 2.5 - 10 micrometers in diameter, and "Fine Particulates" which measure less than 2.5 micrometers in diameter. Moulds and many other biological contaminants fall within this category.
